Terrance Dicks. 1997/2003. Read by Dominic Taylor. 2 tapes. 1.2 hrs. BBC Audiobooks America. 0-7540-6400-x. $29.95. Vinyl; plot, author, reader notes. J

The mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle and its long history of boat and plane disappearances intrigue British junior high-aged student Matt Stirling. He and his father, who is a university professor at the head of a department that specializes in the paranormal, are invited by "The Agency," a part of the US government, to help investigate the disappearance of a plane carrying three high-level security agents en route to a secret international conference. At sea with his father and a crew of Americans in a scruffy-looking but high-tech vessel, Matt has quite an adventure as he comes in contact with pirates and some authentic extraterrestrial beings.

Young YAs will thrill to the combination of SF and action-adventure. The book is not abridged, but listeners will wish the story were more fully developed. Well read by Taylor, a reader with sophisticated credits. Edna Boardman, Bismarck, ND

J--Recommended for junior high school students. The contents are of particular interest to young adolescents and their teachers.
